A New Year, A New You: The Health Trends to Try in 2023

As with every new year, many of us begin with a health kick. Whether it’s vowing to walk more, cutting back on the sugar or training for a marathon – most of us try something! If you’re looking to change things up this year and try something new, we’ve got you. Here’s the top health trends to try in 2023.

Micro workouts

Yes, you heard us right ‘micro’ workouts! We heard that sigh of relief a mile off – yes micro! Leading the way in 2023 is the short workout that can be done anywhere, anytime. No need to carve out an hour in your busy day to fit in a HIT session. No, these workouts can be done whilst your kettle boils or when you’re on a call.

From 30 second wall sits to 30 push ups, micro workouts are all about fitting in short bursts of exercise when and where you can. Whilst it may take you some time to adapt the mind and think differently about how you exercise, these mini workouts have lots of benefits – with a shorter recovery time, no gym pass and time-effectiveness being just a few. Sober curiousness

In the past couple of years, many people have reevaluated their relationship with alcohol. A shift in mindset with more of a focus on health has seen countless new non-alcoholic brands pop up, restaurants serving more ‘mocktails’ than ever and even the odd alcohol free bar pop up.

The key take-away is everything in moderation, and whilst you don’t have to go completely teetotal, swapping the midweek wine for an alcohol-free version can only be a good thing.

Mushrooms – the ‘fun-gi’ of 2023

Each year a new superfood takes centre stage and 2023 is set to be the year of the mushroom. A plant source of Vitamin D, mushrooms are packed full of antioxidants and can lower the risk of cholesterol. They have also been shown to help with gut health and reduce the risk of serious diseases. With so many different varieties, you can easily add them to a whole host of recipes and make them a diet staple.

Sleep syncing

Sleep is always up there when it comes to health trends and 2023 is no different as we continue the quest to find a perfect night’s sleep. This year, sleep syncing will become popular as we start using tech to help sync our circadian rhythms for regular daylight and dark exposure. Find out more here.

The Macha switch

Switching up your morning coffee for a Macha is set to be a big trend in 2023. The Japanese super tea can help reduce stress, manage anxiety, and give your immune system a boost. The other benefit to macha is that it releases energy over four to six hours unlike coffee which does this in a short timespan which can lead to an energy crash.

Whether you’re looking to change your diet, help your mental health or boost your fitness, there are plenty of wellbeing ideas out there. Try to start with one new thing to begin with so you’re not overwhelmed and make it become a daily habit.
