8 Ways to Make Your Home a Stress-Free Haven

How to Decorate with Plants: Our Top Tips

What is plant decorating? Simply put, it is decorating our homes with plants! And it’s just about as fun as it sounds. When it comes to decorating your home, the finishing touches tend to be when your personality and interior design character comes into play. While many of us lean towards low maintenance, high durability furnishing, dotting some leafy greens around your home can add a breath of fresh air to your space, literally!

Go exoctic!

Tropical plants are beautiful living decor compliments for plant decorating purposes, and they grow fast meaning you’ll have to find the right location for them in your home. Some require higher levels of humidity than others, so it is wise to do your research about the plants before you buy in order to gauge the level of maintenance required.

Plant Shelves

A shelf with plants and picture frames has more dimension and openness compared to a solid wall of books. Break up the space with various plants dotted around the wall, long overhanging structures like Devil’s Ivy or Boston Fern are stunning additions, creating an overgrown earthy energy to the space.

Open and closed Terrariums

Did you know closed terrariums create their own water system? For this reason alone they are the perfect option for low maintenance plant owners. Open terrariums are great for having a hands-on approach to your living decor, from choosing the rocks and minerals to the materials of the container creating your own terrarium is perfect for getting to know what your plants need. We love how @jarijungle has included a small figurine to add a subtle narrative to the scene, how creative!

More is more!

While minimalism can be the calming influence some spaces need, when it comes to plants we think a healthy collection can add a beautiful growing aura to a room. And when it comes to size why not think big? A large Monstera can increase the height of a room and create various levels of visual interest.

Pet Safety

Think about who is going to be affected by your new plants in your home. Do you have some furry housemates you need to keep in mind when it comes to choosing your perfect plant harmony? The rattlesnake snake is the ideal plant for cats and dogs and has gorgeous distinct colours and shape making it a great addition to a low light living area. Spider plants and Parlour Palms are also safe for pets.

Plant hangers

Add a whole new layer to your living room with a plant hanger. You can either buy a ready made one or devote a relaxing afternoon to creating your own. You can usually buy a kit with everything you need that includes a handy step by step guide, once you’ve woven your basket holder you can get even more creative by dying the material a colour, think about the colour of the wall you intend to hang it against to make the plant and its holder really pop!

Bathroom nature

Although you may wish to keep your plants where you will see them more often, bathroom plants are a great way of introducing colour and character to the often most neglected room in the house. Bathrooms are also great ecosystems for plants that require a wet environment. For a somewhat industrial but retro look, simply hanging greenery from the shower curtain rail to complement a vintage-style bathtub and tiles creates a beautiful bathroom aesthetic.

We hope some of these tips have got your creative juices flowing, plants can be the perfect finishing touch to a home. If you decide to create your own plant mosaic or introduce some green to your home be sure to tag us @adam-avards to be featured on our page.
