garden tips for summer

The Top 5 Garden Trends for 2022 According to Instagram

One of the buzzwords for gardens in 2022 is ‘solace’, continuing the ongoing theme of relaxation from 2020 and 2021. While the world and its borders have opened back up again, many of us are keen to stay in the UK this summer. This means our gardens are going to be the closest thing we have to a villa in the south of France. So, why not indulge your senses by creating a garden fit for the med. In this week’s blog we’re looking at the biggest trends for your garden this summer, read on for some of our favourite tips on how to recreate the looks.

Relaxing Bamboo

Transport your senses with a bamboo theme, not only is it blissful to relax in, the texture and feel of the bamboo will send your mind millions of miles away to your dream destination on a beach somewhere.

It doesn’t even have to be your seating furniture, enhance your garden by dotting bamboo planters around the area or invest in a wooden pergola to create the perfect holiday effect. A bamboo pergola is also the ideal base for growing climbing plants like jasmine.

Our Hawaii Egg Chair would suit the vibe perfectly and as a bonus, it can also be used indoors to achieve peace and harmony all year round.

Deep colour palettes

When looking ahead to the summer season, many trendsetters are monopolising their garden beds by infusing darker, purple plants next to their green bushes to make the whole garden look more lush and vibrant. This style was popular at the Chelsea flower show this year and it sure to pop up in home gardens as the rich colours add a beautiful calming touch to the energetic greenery.

Herb Gardens

#growyourown has been a popular hashtag for years and the craze is only growing year by year. The ability to garnish or even base your next meal around the herbs and vegetables you’ve grown is really rewarding and makes you to feel closer to both nature and your own outdoor space.

Successfully growing your own edible plants means getting to know your garden, the soil, the average temperature, and which plants thrive the most in your climate. While the chemistry may seem primarily intimidating, making time for your garden is one of the most relaxing challenges you can set yourself.

Grey Gardens

Grey has been a touchstone colour for both interior and exterior design for the past few years, it gives the perfect man made touch to a space that encourages the more natural aspects to stand out. Getting the perfect grey garden furniture set to suit your garden is easy to do due to grey’s universal appeal. Styling the cool toned set is also perfect for gardeners with limited time on their hands. Lavender and Spirea are the ideal low maintenance plants to compliment your grey garden.

Gardens Rooms

The lawn has been the focal point of gardens for decades, however in recent years we’ve seen a shift towards creating ‘broken plan gardens’. Meaning gardens that don’t shy away from zones and cordoned off spaces. This doesn’t have to mean extra fences or harsh lines, think more subtle suggestions of privacy via a bush or row of planters around your alfresco dining area to create the feeling of an exclusive dining experience.

Garden rooms can also be highlighted by fairy lights squaring off your chosen space. The ability to shift your garden rooms is also important, as more and more people are prioritising being close to nature, they are opting for softer, more natural garden architecture moving away from harsh strict lines.
