Freshen up Your Hallway Vibe with these 5 Instagram Décor Trends

The hallway is the opening of the house; the first thing you see when you come home. While it’s usually one of the overlooked places when it comes to decorating, this space should feel like a welcome home hug, comforting and inviting.

With the right touches you can turn your hallway from the place where you sling your coat and shoes when you walk through the door, to an inviting space that makes you feel immediately at home.

First impressions count, and there is no better place than the entrance of your home to set the right tone. Whether you want to channel what’s in vogue or show off your unique personality we have 5 tips for updating your hallway.

1. Add a runner

Hallways tend to be hard to decorate, often slim and long they don’t warrant too much furniture and clutter. A pattered runner is a great option for adding instant texture and cosiness that spans the length of the floor.

The days of carpeted hallways are largely gone, with tiles or wooden flooring, the easy-to-clean option, in high demand. But, slipping your shoes off onto a cold floor isn’t very welcoming for you or your guests.

A hallway runner can offer warmth as well as being the final touch that brings the design elements of your hallway together. They are quick to put down and offer instant visual interest, just don’t forget to add an anti-slip mat underneath!

2. Hallway Panelling

Pantone chose two colours for their ‘Colour of The Year’ in 2021: Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow. While they may not be complimenting colours, why not take a leaf out of their book and choose two colours for your hallway.

Separated with some hallway panelling, the differing colours can add a classical feel to the room. The detailed wall accents can also lift the space, making the hallway feel taller and grander. Warm desert inspired neutrals are really popular in 2021, like oatmeal or light taupe.

3. Maximalism

While minimalism has ruled the interior design waves for years, maximalism is the current trend to follow.

Although it can be associated with chaos and clutter, maximalism can actually be a great way to add layers and colours to you home. Contrasting colours, multiple frames and vases, when put together can result in a powerful and energetic space.

Maximalism is also a great way to show off your hobbies or interests, from a painted vase to a vinyl cover hanging in a frame. The trend encourages individuality, so think outside the box.

4. Console Table

Often the downfall of many hallways: storage. Fumbling over shoes and piling coats on the bannister is not the best look.

Finding the best way to store your belongings away is a great way to keep your hall tidy and add a bold accent to your space. The ultimate pretty-but-practical addition to the hallway is a console table.

Its slim design will fit perfectly and add useful storage for your keys and other bits and pieces. With an ethereal, reclaimed vibe, our Cove Console Table is trending on our site now as a popular choice for many a hallway.

5. Get a gallery wall

If you’re feeling bold and want to add colour to your homes entrance, get some art! Turn your unassuming hall or entry into a passageway for inspiration, with a museum worthy statement wall.

Arranging prints from your favourite artists is a great way to infuse your personality into your home. Or look up some local artists and support a small business. A mirror among the frames can also brighten up the hallway and give the illusion of extra space.
